URGENT :: What is "Provisional Acceptance"

Can someone tell me What is the actual meaning of "Provisional Acceptance"? One of my friend applied in University of Windsor for her master's course and got this update in her webfile. o she is not sure, so I am just asking if anyone here can guide me with the term.

Hope to get some suitable response soon.

I know of three reasons:

1. You are missing something in your application they want you to submit
2. They want you to pay the fees
3. The department has recommend you to the graduate school (this is only valid for post-graduate education)

I am sure others can comment on more stuff. But generally it means half way there.

Well I just talked to my friend. She has been recommended by the department to the graduate studies but none of 1 & 2 has been asked to her. She has applied for master's program. Can you please guide me, is this something to worry about or her admission is confirmed??? :

I myself not that much aware of such situation to help her out.

the formal application package will now be sent by the registrar's office. tell your friend to be in contact with the graduate assitant of the department. she will guide her well . its just a formality i think and your friend has finally been recommended and accepted.

Normally any provisional acceptance follows notes to say why its provisional. If she has been recommend by the department to the Graduate Studies; that could be provisional. All in all; I would not worry too much about it yet. Its a much better sign then getting a rejection. Don't worry yourself.

Basically they didn't ask for any paper yet. My friend has applied for Interdisciplinary MA in Social Data Analysis in University of Windsor.

But still in the webfile it is written as "Provisional Acceptance"!!!
