Hello fórum,
I need your urgent help for this matter:
We are permanent residents (or were) or Canada, with expired PR cards with more tan a year. We don't qualify for residency obligation either.

We need to travel to Canada, what I would think we should apply for a Visitor Visa.

The thing is how to apply for the Visa when we were PR? Is the process the same?

Many thanks

If you still hold PR status, regardless of your card being expired or you not meeting the Residency Obligation requirements, you are NOT eligible for any form of visa to enter Canada.

You will have to apply for a PR Travel Document from your local embassy.

Thank you, but why I have to apply for a travel document if do not meet the resicendy obligation? Is it posible they grant it?

If they don't grant it what happens next?

How or when to apply for the visa?

We need to have a document to enter Canada by the end of September.
Thanks

Thanks. This is for the visa itself, doesn't clarify what to do if you are PR.

It gives you the contact number.

The reason for the PR Travel Document is to trigger the formal examination of your residency status. This will probably lead to you losing your PR status and only then do you become eligible to apply for a visa.

Hello again,
2 weeks ago the application for travel documen was sent. I just received a determination document stating I don't meet the residency obligation, and that I have 60 days to appeal.

I don't want to appeal, I just need to get my visa.

Can someone please guide me as to what step is next? Can I apply with current circumstances? Do I need to relinquish or not anymore due I haven't granted the travel document?

Many thanks for your guidance

Just don't appeal. You will lose your PR status and then you can apply for the visa. Not sure what they will do if you apply too early. You could always try and attach a letter stating that your PR is in the process of being revoked..

That is the concern. How to know when the PR status is lost so I can apply for the visa?

Applying for the visa now, providing a copy of the letter of determination and TD refusal could help? NOTE: this letter of determination is not a final determination decision.

I need to have my visa in a couple of weeks.

In that case. all you can do is to try... Good Luck.
