Asking question for a friend she is taking a study gap base on financial issues she is experiencing and not able to continue studying . When she change to visitor how long can she stay in canada , to continue her studies in fall 2020.

Typically a visitor visa allows someone to stay in Canada for a maximum of 6 months. They would need to apply for an extension to stay longer.

When she apply and get visitors visa does she have to go back home and return as a visitor
