Hi,

I got PR before 1 month and I got married in India which was arranged. I have got marriage certificate from court. I also opened joint account with my wife. I am wondering is it enough to show that we are married couple. I am worried about some posts in this forum regarding refusal of PR to my wife.

Eagerly waiting for your response.
Thanks alot.

Unfortunatly, none of us can really answer that question for you. You have to fill out the forms to the best of your ability. Part of that will include prooving the validity of your relationship, this includes photo evidence, letters from family members, jointt accounts, life insurance policies etc etc.

Maybe someone here with experience with arranged marriages will be able to answer this a bit better, but we aren't immigration officers so it is hard for us to answer.

hey thanks for info. Only simple letter with their signature will be enough or need something extra?
Still lots of confusion in mind.

No one letter will never be enough. You should get photos, email printouts, phone records and anything else you can get to prove you married for love and not just to get the PR

There are no strict rules regarding this. The only rule is: the more evidence, the better. :) Get as many letters as you can.

think of anything u can find any evidence. i made a huge pile full of evidence.even boarding passes, flowers being sent etc. like everyone said more the merrier :D

thanks.

I am just curious: is it needed to change name on wife's passport to prove genuine relationship? And I used voip service to call my wife. So how can I show phone bill and calling history?

You don't need to change the name on your passport to prove realtionship validity, we did not change mine until jsut a few weeks ago. It may make travel easier. Explain your situation with the voip in a letter, or the allotted space... any IM chat records or anyhitng to compliment that should be fine. do the best you can with what you've got.

This won't be enough.
An arranged marriage is fine for sponsoring your spouse, but the visa officer will want to see more proof than just the marriage certificate and a joint account. For arranged marriages, the visa officer wants to see proof that the marriage was as typical as possible for an arranged marriage in your culture. So you should provide proof of how your marriage was arranged and who arranged it, proof that your and your wife's parents were involved in the arrangements and the wedding, proof that background checks on you and your wife were done by the other's family, and lots of photos of the ceremony - which ideally was a lavish, well-attended event.
As well, you should add any other evidence you have of communication and contact with your wife - trips to see her, your honeymoon, phone calls, emails, letters, gifts, money transfers, etc.
