Hello there,

Yesterday I received a letter from PRC Investigation Department Toronto that the CPC-Sydney has redirected my file to the Toronto office for further investigation and it may result in some delay etc.

It has been well over 4 months that I applied for the URGENT PROCESSING and now I get slapped with this letter.

I have been told that my case is quite weak because out of 5 years I have spent over 4 years out of Canada while working for small Canadian companies, I dont even know if those companies showed my employment to the government or not though I filed my taxes and I thought that I was OK but this delay is really freaking me out and specially this further investigation thing is too alarming.

Please advice me what shall I do, what measures and process shall I go through to make sure that I will get the confirmed renewal for maximum validity very soon.

Please help me.

There's nothing you can do to speed up the process.

I think there's good reason to be concerned. If they have transferred your file to the Toronto office for further investigation they they are certainly investigating if you have met the 730 day residency requirement. If I were in your shoes, I would start gathering evidence immediately to show strong ties to Canada and prove the work you did outside of Canada qualifies under the "working for a Canadian Company" clause. Hopefully you were hired by the company in Canada first and then transferred to a position overseas at a later date. The requirements for meeting the Canadian Company clause are quite specific.

Good luck.

Take a look at the following page on the CIC site and scroll down to OPTION 2. This is what you may have to prove if your residency days are called into question - so this is the type of supporting documentation you should start gathering now (if you don't already have it on file).

Hope this helps.
