Hello Friends,

I have received my PPR request today and they have given me 30 days to submit the passport. today is 28th Nov and i am travelling outside canada on 21st dec 2012.

Documents need to be sent to Detroit.

1) Do you think i can get the visa by 20th dec if i send the documents by tomorrow.
2) Or should i call them and ask their opinion - i will search for the number but if you have it handy please paste the number -

If i plan to send the passport tomorrow, i am planning to include my confirmed tickets and a letter to request them to issue visa at the earliest.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions for me.

Where r u located ? Bcoz I have seen some people going Detroit in person and they get their passport stamped in few hrs !!

If you can go to Detroit tomorrow (Thursday) you will get PR visa withing couple of hours, provided you have US visa. While coming back do not have to do landing process (you can do landing when u return Canada from you trip after Dec. 21)

application received - 15th april
AOR - 17th june
Medical request- 18th Oct
Medical done - 31st oct

Call them and ask. They are good in the phone (my personal experience)... @ 313-567-2340 (Website: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/detroit/contact-contactez.aspx?lang=eng&view=d).

May be you know but I would like to remind you to use Fedex or UPS as their service is much more faster ( but expensive) then xpresspost which might be beneficial in you case.

In addition this thread (http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/detroit-timeline-to-stamp-pr-visa-and-return-of-passports-t106675.0.html) might be helpful to plan your PR visa process.

but the problem is for the return they have only given the option to include "Canada Post Xpresspost" envelope.
so but i am planning is to send it via fedex and include a "Canada Post Xpresspost" for the reurn...

what say ???

and thanks for your valuable inputs, this helps a lot

Its not gonna help you much. During aug-sep-oct, Applicants, who were sending passports through mail, were getting their passports back in 5-6 weeks. Not sure, whats the current waiting time.

I thought as of now the new passport requests go to Ottawa.

FYI...i sent Detroit consulate regarding my travel dates and they responded back saying i can submit the passport when i come back from my trip in jan 2013.

also they replied in just 24 hours...
