hi guys
is it possible to use traveller's cheque as proof of funds in eAPR (after ITA)

docs would be
- 6 months bank account showing 10K
- traveller's cheque showing 3K

plz help

CIC has no way of knowing how you came to have the funds behind the check. There's no way for them to tell if the funds were borrowed, gifted, etc.

My personal opinion here is that you should cash the travelers check and deposit it into the bank account, and provide a paper trail of where the funds came from that were deposited to prove it wasn't a loan. When you're ready to travel and move to Canada, you can convert the funds back to a traveler's check.

my brother is offering me the travellers cheque, he will make a letter stating it's a gift not to be returned; with the details ( date, number etc.)

is that ok with cic ?

Deposit in an Account on your name. Why do you want only Check as POF. How long it takes for the deposit.?

I want the travellers cheque in CAD. ( and not in my home country bank account !
you mean cic does not accept travellers cheque in eAPR phase ? even with a LOE and a gift deed from a sibling !?!

I feel using a traveler's check in any case for POF is playing with fire. I'm not sure CIC would accept it and I'd be surprised if they did. Have your brought write out the gift deed, etc., and deposit the money in your bank account.
