Hi All,

I have a question, Can my future spouse apply for Medicals and Police Clearance before submitting Documents ? and Marriage Certificate ?
and have all this process started. What is the process involved in general after the Spouse application is submitted, Is it that the CIC send acknowledgement letter and then they give time like 90-120 days during which all these documents needs to be mailed out ?

How much time it takes to get the Police Clearance in USA? How long are they valid ?
And Medicals , How long they are valid ? Can he get it done before we sit down and start the application process ?
Are medicals directly sent to CIC from the Doctor's Office.
How time time it takes to obtain the Marriage certificate in USA?

Thanks,
Aries

Wow I can't believe no one has answered this...

Yes, you can have your medical done and send in your fingerprint before you send in your sponsorship documents. In fact, I suggest that you send in all of these documents (Police Clearance, Medical, Marriage Certificate) with your application or else you run the risk of your application being sent back you because it will be considered incomplete.

From what I remember, my police clearance took about 3 months to receive and was valid for 4-6 months after that (sent in fingerprints in April, received back ground check in in June, expired in September). You must submit your application before your police clearance expires, or else you will have to take a new one. Make sure to send in multiple copies of your finger prints to make sure that you have a readable print for each finger.

Your medical is valid for one year, and if it expires during the application process you could be asked to take a new one. When I took my medical they sent the results to the CIC and gave me a forum to include in my application to prove that I had taken the medical. I suggest doing the medical right before you plan to fill out your application.

If I were you, I would print out all of the necessary forums/checklists and go over them. Make sure that you know what information you need and how to get it, and then go from there. Once you have all of the information, fill out your forums and send them in.

Here is a link to the very helpful Immigrants Guide[url].

Good luck!

You most definitely can apply only after getting all of those documents.

For the Family Class immigration there is the possibility of doing an upfront medical exam. The applicant will be given a form by the doctor that did the med exam and you will have to include that form in the file you send to CPC Mississauga. The medical results are valid for 12 months, so do the med exams last, after you have all the forms filled in, documents obtained and photos printed - right before sending in the application. The doctor that does the tests will never present the results to the applicant, but send them to a Regional Medical Office. The RMO will do the medical assessment and CIC will ask for it based on the barcode and serial number printed on the form the doctor provided after the med exam.

Because the police clearance in the USA takes so long to get, you are allowed to send in the application before actually receiving it, just provide a document that proves the fact that you have sent in your fingerprints are are waiting for the document. If you chose to apply only after getting the document, be aware that, no matter how long that document is valid in the USA, CIC needs to receive your application no more than 3 months after the document was issued, otherwise they will deem the document invalid and ask for a new one.

CIC will only accept applications that have all the documents requested in the Document Checklist. Otherwise they send the whole application package back. And they don't always sent AORs, so don't panic if you don't get one :)
