I also suggest that you have two complete sets taken, in case there's a problem with the first set.

It's money well spent, IMHO.

Oh...and don't even consider using an FBI Channeller (third-party that offers an expedited PCC). CIC doesn't accept anything unless it's from the FBI directly.

And...you have to have the `ink and roll prints', since digital prints cannot be sent electronically across the border (FBI regulation, apparently).

Vancouver Island. I went to the local police station (as per the obnoxious CIC website) and they looked at me as if an alien had arrived requesting a pepperoni pizza. They sent me to the main police station in Victoria, went there, they said they couldn't do it, so they suggested I call the Commissionaires. Apparently they now take fingerprints on behalf of the RCMP.

Take a look at their site

http://www.commissionaires.bc.ca/

You need to call for an appointment too.

Yep - agreed. The commissionaires is the right place in Ontario too. This is where my husband had his prints done.

Oh what looks wrong with it? Where was it from?

CIC eventually admitted that they didn't like the fact that it was in English and that it had no letterhead. The next one I got was Russian, but again no letterehad. I did request a letterhead, but the Russian consulate people dryly told me they issue their documents in their official format and I cannot tell them how I want it done. Well, they're in the right...

Oh dear. I just received one of my PCCs today and I "don't like" the way it looks. So much hassle getting it for a piece of paper that a 5 year old could fake? I hope they *like it*...

Missmatalini, sorry to hear that they're giving you hell at this stage. You did all you could so hopefully this won't be an issue.

It came from Spain. No letterhead either, just their official stamp.

Was that city police or RCMP? Coz I got it done at RCMP detachment last month, and it clearly stated in RCMP's websites that they provide fingerprint services to the residents.

Yeah, CIC likes elaborate seals and stuff I think...

You didn't send yours yet? I sent mine (the second one) and no word back from Manila VO. For all I know my application could be rejected for that police certificate...

Thank you all for the words of support and guidance!

I checked the commissionaires websites and it says you don't need an appointment. . . ? Should I try and make one even though their websites says you don't need one?

What should I do if we aren't granted an extension of when they need the FBI clearance? Do we have to appeal at that point or start completely over? (I know right now it's far fetched but just preparing for all the possibilities)

Inland applicants do not the right to an appeal.

Hopefully, CIC will work with you as you seem to have a valid reason for not obtaining the FBI PCC before now.

Good luck!

We are an Outland Application

Don't worry. Send them the receipt showing that you've applied for the FBI cert and they will give you an extension.

When I called to verify the damage prices, the fingerprinting coordinator told me that some offices are very busy, so unless you want to be waiting for a while it's better if you make an appointment first. So it's not compulsory, but if you want to be done with it quickly it's probably a good idea.

Went and spoke with one of the assistants at our MP's office.

She was very nice! Unfortunately we have misplaced the receipt with the tracking number for the documents that we sent, so she is going to try and get in touch with them to see if they are still chilling out in a pile somewhere or I guess send them for us to them?

She also told us not to worry too much about the FBI fingerprinting, she asked us if we had started that process and I told her that we are getting things together and trying to get it expedited through some family that works for the FBI, she said usually if they see you working your butt off to get it done, we'll probably be given more time.

She said she'd give us a call sometime today once she gets the information.

I'm still trying to calm down and just breathe
