Hi friend,

I'm Aug 2014 CEC applicant, and i just got my COPR - confirmation of Permanent Resident letter back from CIC Ottawa, and I noticed that my original entry date is incorrect. It is suppose to be 2008 May, but it is printed as 2011 Sept (which is my 3rd time entered Canada). What should I do? SHould I mail it back to CIC for correction?

Thanks.

No worries. A lot of ppl have the same issue. Me as well.
The landing officer doesn't care, at least that is what I was told.

When was your original entry date? As of today, that date does not matter, the officer would not care. But if you are planning to apply for Citizenship in the near future, there is a bill c-6 which will probably come into effective in year 2017, by then the pre-PR time credit could be restore up to 1 year.

Because the every 1 day spend in Canada before PR counts as half day credit, so if your original entry date is two years earlier than the landing date, then it does not affect you as you can only get 1 year time credit.

Hope it helps.

Even mine original date is incorrect

My spouse completed B.Sc, BEd and MA from Telugu medium and if I apply for ECA then will they consider as Canadian degree and will get 10 points?

Please advise to do ECA or not?

Most people have the wrong original entry date, it does not affect your landing at all 8)

Thanks very much!
my original entry date is 2008 May (but it is printed as 2011 Sept), and I just got my copr letter today 2016 April, and I've been working in Canada since 2013 June, so I guess the original entry date in this case should be fine since I'll still get my 1 year before PR counted toward my citizenciship credit right?

Of course, you can ask him. Just be polite and say "Would it be possible to correct this here?"
I read in other threds though that they won't.

The date can be changed later by making an application to CIC.

Processing time is 6 months.
