i got the offer letter from centennial college under computer system technology (fast track) progrm 2 years starting this jan (2014)....but since the progrm is of 2 yrs it should get over by dec 2015 or jan 2016 but on the offer letter expected date of competion is written april 2015...what does this means...will i get 3 yrs work permit after this progrm or not....kindly help..

Okay, I am not an expert here but as far as I have read and known, for a 2 years course (as long as the college document calls it a 2 academic year course) you are most likely to get a 3 year work permit.

God knows the rest!!! Good Luck!!

Hope I was able to help you!!

Hi,

16 months = 2 academic years.
So don't worry you'll get 3 years work permit.

Good Luck

Hello Chaitnay,

The program you are enrolled in is of four semester which will get over as per the date on your letter, one semester is of 4 months in Canada. Ideally you should be completing this program by end of April 2015.

http://www.centennialcollege.ca/Programs/ProgramOverview.aspx?Program=3404

However, you do have an option to drop one of the semesters (which is okay as it doesn't impact anything on your file) and you can continue after the drop period (one semester) then your program will get over by December 2015 which is also not a problem, but only change will be - you will need to extend your study permit for another four months which is not a difficult task but involves a fee of 150 CAD.

Read the info on following CIC link;

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work-postgrad-who.asp

Now, you will get three years of work permit as it's of four semesters program. Don't get confused with the fact that your actual study is of 16 months. That's how it is calculated.

hey!! brother i have the same problem as yours... so please tell me that you got an work permit of 3 years or not?
