Dear all, I have encountered a problem and need your help in this regard: I have been working in my current organization for 2 Years and 10 Months. The first year was actually my training period or apprenticeship period for which my title had been "Trainee Engineer". It was actually a contract period with my employer. I got confirmation after that training period after a year and rejoined the organization with a gap of 2 days between end of 1 year contract and rejoining as a permanent employee. Therefore, after confirmation, I've been serving this organization for 1 year and 10 months. I have had the same responsibilities during that 1 year period which I have after confirmation (I've acquired a job description on company's letterhead from my boss)
Can anyone enlighten me whether the VO would accept that 1 year contractual period for application? Because I have to have an experience of 2 years in my occupation to get 67 points!
Please help me out friends!

In my opinion you would get points for your contract also, provided you were getting salary for the same period and were working for around 38 hours per week

Thanks Ankit for the reply! I had been working for 42 hours a week during that period but the salary i was getting, my employer calls it a stipend and they are not providing me any salary certificate for that period! What should I do now? I mean, what I think is that I should provide a bank statement of my account (which remained the same throughout) for the previous 2 years and 10 months. Would that suffice?

Can't they just write down on your experience letter how much you earned in that year. It doesn't have to be a formal salary certificate.

You're right Maaties. I am gonna insist for the same tomorrow. Hope so they'd provide me with that! Remember me in prayers and best of luck to you all too!!

Hello Maaties,

Just a quick info, is there a format for the employment certificate from the company? Would it suffice if one letter from the employer states the employment dates, position, salaries, duties performed, signed by a HR Personnel is submitted? Would they insist for the employment contract or payslips still?

Thanks Indira Prabhakaran.

WORK EXPERIENCE
For you and your spouse or common-law partner:
•notarized employment contracts from your present and past employers, accompanied by an English or French translation
•original and up-to-date letters of reference from your past and current employers. Letters must be written on company letterhead and show the company’s full address, telephone and fax numbers, and be stamped with the company’s official seal.
Letters must include all of the following information:
•the specific period of your employment with the company
•the positions you have held during the period of employment and the time spent in each position
•your main responsibilities and duties in each position
•your total annual salary plus benefits
•the signature of your immediate supervisor or the personnel officer of the company
•a business card of the person signing
If you have experience as a self-employed person, provide copies of:
•business/company registration documents,
•proof of business conducted with clients (invoices, bills, client references)
•balance sheets,
•income tax returns, and/or
•proof of your licence to practice (if you are a private practitioner)
If you cannot provide a reference from your current employer, provide a written explanation.

it is not an employment certificate, it is just a letter from the company stating the relevant information. I don't know if your visa office asked you for payslip but mine didn't and I didn't give them. If you don't have employment contract, you should let them know but it would be good for your provide it as it is asked for it.
