Hi all,

My girlfriend is in the process of applying for a TRV to visit me in Canada. I'm a Canadian citizen and she is a Chinese citizen currently residing in Australia. I don't think it makes sense for her to purchase a return ticket first before applying for the visa but the instructions on the immigration website seems to indicate otherwise. But what if she is denied of her visa application? This cannot be a gamble.

Can someone who has been through this process shed some light on this matter?

Thank you,

C

Not required but it would be good if you do it or atleast get a booking done for her proposed date of travel.

Thanks for the quick response!

But she needs to provide travel itinerary, if she does not purchase the tickets, how should we approach this required document?

Does airlines let you book the ticket without paying? I've always thought you will not receive your booking document (such as an email confirmation) unless you have made the purchase. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks again!

Give the itinerary with proposed dates.

This is a question for your airline.

Some let you, some don't. You can also buy a refundable ticket.

just call a travel agent - they will make a tentative booking and give you an itinerary

You don't need to buy tickets. Just go online or to a travel agent, ask them to give you a copy of your planned dates of travel and return.
