Hi guys, I need some urgent advice. My wife just received a call in India from NDVO, the lady said your medicals are expiring by Nov 20, if you can fly within that date, I can issue the visa. My wife was too shocked to say Yes or No. Then apparently the lady said I will give you an extension, and will send you a letter in 10 days. You just need to do some medical formalities.

So, this is what happened. Now what does it mean for us? Can she now say that the she wants to come by Nov 20, or is it too late to take up the offer? And if it is possible, can she land, and return back in a week to wrap up her work things in India?

What does the extension mean? and what can we expect in the email coming? Is it a PPR or a remedical request?

1st part is Congratulations!! The call your wife received was to ask tell her about her expiring medicals and that her visa will be issued providing she can be in Canada before Nov 20. Your wife couldnt answer so the VO is giving her an extension and she might have to do a minimal medical of sorts.
I think she now has to wait for the extension papers to arrive before she can do anything. I could be wrong and a senior member is sure to chime in here about this.

Chris

Thanks Chris! I really hope it is like you said, and it is a simple extension paper that will come along with PPR? I hope its not a remedial request.

Can she still avail the offer to come before Nov 20? Or is it too late?

I could be mistaken but I am thinking that offer is too late now to accept as visa office is sending papers to her now along with some instructions.

I guess so :(

But what happens next? Do extension papers come with a PPR? Are we looking at a long delay now? I hope not. On the bright side, I guess only medicals are the open question remaining in our file now.

I really do not think there would be much of a delay as they were ready to issue the visa already when she received the call from the VO

Thanks for the encouragement Chris! Let's hope good things happen :)

I am hoping too for good things for my wifes application ....Patience is key to this whole process.

Good luck with your visa too. Hope you get it soon!

Visa Officer has a discretionary power to extend medical validity of the applicant for a certain period. Otherwise your wife will have to do re-medical as per VO letter. Congrats!

Yes, since the officer said "extension, but need to do some additional medical formalities", I'm hoping its not a full remedical. I'm not sure what these additional medical formalities mean, and what kind of a delay it introduces. A full remedical (I really hope not) comes with a deadline period and a bring forward date I think, but not sure about these additional medicals.

I searched the forums, but looks like everyone who got the option of flying before medicals expire said Yes and landed. I guess I should have prepared my wife to say Yes under all shocks and pressures - like waking her up suddenly and asking :P or shine a light in her eyes and ask :P

congrats ydj_dil :)

Thanks draxz1289!

I found this link on CIC, which sort of shows what the visa officer is thinking, but there is no timeline or statistics: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/medic/assess/cert.asp
