Hi,
Harnoor here
I am an international student in Canada. I’ve recently completed my studies in the Practical Nursing program, and I’m currently waiting to receive my official completion letter from my college. I intend to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) soon afterward.
As I plan to work in the healthcare sector, I understand that a medical exam is required to avoid having occupation-related restrictions on my work permit. I’m considering doing an upfront medical exam before submitting my PGWP application and am currently searching for a panel physician authorized by IRCC.
I have a few questions I’d like your advice on:
1. What specific document or form should I obtain from the physician during the upfront medical exam (e.g., IMM 1017B or eMedical info sheet), especially since I will not be submitting my PGWP application immediately?
2. I have heard that in some cases, IRCC still issues PGWPs with the healthcare restriction, even when the upfront medical exam is included. Could this be due to not submitting a Letter of Explanation or possibly missing other supporting documents?
3. Aside from the study permit, passport, IELTS results, completion letter, and medical exam, are there any other required documents for the PGWP application?
4. Lastly, is a police certificate or background check required as part of the PGWP application?
Thanks
