Unusual situation

Guys.
I received two letter of acceptance from the same Canadian college.
First - for the Post Graduate certificate. Second - for the 2-years diploma. I want to apply fo the Study Permit with Post Graduate certificate (because it is in light with my previous education) and after landing in Canada change it to diploma course (within the same college), which is not in light with my previous education. Is it possible to do so? Is changing from one year PG certificate to 2-years diploma allowed?

Ok, but I would eventually have to apply for the extension of the Study Permit, because the second program is longer than the original. Might it create any problems with extension?
