Guys I have a question.....Got LOA from red river college 2 year(4 semester) course;but in LOA it is written 16 months.I called the college, there representative said you will have to study continously for 16 months(4 semester) as you are coming in january, you will not get any breaks. In LOA it is also written that you will get 3 months after graduation to seek job in manitoba.

So for how many months I will get work permit(course is Business Administration 2 years).

It will be unfair if I will not get 3 year work permit as well as the students who are going in january intake????

Hi,

As per CIC, 2 academic years = 4 semesters of full time studies

and 1 semester of full time study = 4 months

So, 4 semesters = 4 X 4 months= minimum 16 months of actual study

As long as you study 4 sem -16 actual months (be it continuous) or 20 months(with 1 summer break) or 24 months (with 2 summer breaks)... or you start in Jan, Sept or May!!! It's one in a same thing. It all means you have done a course equivalent to 2 academic years.
If you actually see.. 16 months continuous is time saving.

So, there's nothing unfair... No need to worry, you will get 3 years PGWP (Post Grad Work Permit), if you apply immediately /within 3 months of getting your final transcript/completing course (not convocation).

Best of Luck.
