Hi everyone! I've recently joined as a member but I have been visiting this site for over a year now just reading up on things..

My husband and I had been on a long-distance relationship for 3 1/2 years and married for 5 months now. We have a child together and he was born before we got married and am now pregnant again with our second. I have been out of work for over a year now so I have nothing to show for the financial part of the application.

My questions is: I'm not sure whether my lack of a job before and still unemployed today will factor into things. I want to start applying now but if the Immigration saw that I have no record of employment and practically no money, how will my application be viewed? Do I even have a chance of sponsoring my husband?

Are you on maternity leave or just unemployed? As there is no income requirement for spousal they still require you to have a job as it says you are financially responsible for them for the next tree years.
Even if you get a job at tim hortons to apply its a job right.Anything will help a cleaning job,etc

You can't sponsor if you are on welfare. Unemployment insurance or maternity leave is OK.
You don't need a job or an income to sponsor your spouse.
However, the visa officer may wonder how you will support your family once your spouse gets here, so include evidence about your future plans - where you'll live, how you and your family will support yourselves while your husband looks for a job, evidence that your husband is able and willing to work. Things like a letter from family promising to let you live with them until you and your husband get jobs, a job offer, evidence you own a home, money in the bank, etc.

You need to prove your marriage is genuine. With two kids, that should be easy. Evidence of future plans, and plans for your life together in Canada, is another type of evidence that your marriage is genuine.

No, I'm not on welfare and not on maternity leave either. I do have a job waiting for me though when I decide to go back to work.
Even if my husband and I don't have a child yet I have plenty of evidence to show our relationship is genuine. Pictures, I probably have thousands of them.

Another question: Should my husband's medicals be done before I send the application for faster processing?

Definitely include proof of that job offer in the application, then. If you start work after you send the application in, I would also send in proof you've started working as an addition to your application (or your husband could show this proof at the interview, if there is one.)

Do the medical now and send it with the application. Otherwise there is a slight delay when they request the medical.

Thanks canadianwoman and iarblue for your responses. Very helpful. ;D
