I am planning to come to Canada next fall for my undergraduate studies as a full time student. I am from INDIA and would need help with a few questions:

Q1. During my undergraduate studies - can I apply for PR?
Q2. How hard is to get a job for undergrad student offcampus/oncampus?
Q3. What is minimum wage? Are wages enough to survive (where I can pay my rents/food..etc).
Q4. Is canada expensive or cheaper than US (for an undergrad student | simple living/no party person).
Q5. Will it be better to come for masters or undergrad (money wise)?

Thanks in Advance!!

1. If you meet the requirements for any PR programs, then yes, you can apply. However being an undergraduate student alone won't qualify you to apply for PR.
2. On campus is usually difficult. Off campus depends on the city.
3. Around $10. No - it's not enough to survive on once you've paid taxes.
4. Depends on the city. Canada can often be more expensive for food.
5. I'm not sure I understand this question. Masters programs are usually more expensive if that's what you are asking.

Thank You Scylla!

1. How long is undergrad studies? it is similar to US (4 year) degrees?
2. Can a full time undergrad student working while studying for all graduation years can get PR or is it a lot more?
3. how high the TAXES are on low income like 10$/hour part-time or full-time?
4. The minimum GPA requirement is 1.6 (I guess), whereas in US it`s 2.0 is it true?
5. Is there something called academic probation as well?
6. How long is it take to get a PR after graduation?
7. Can you afford a living (rental apartment, food..etc) in a city where you are living/working with the wage you are making (say $10 to $12)?

Also, what I understand that an undergrad cannot pay tuition fees from working on-campus/off-campus.

8. On an average(university/community collage - generally speaking) what may be minimum tuition fees/semester or yearly for international student across Canada.

Thanks in Advance!

You should start at www.cic.gc.ca. Most of your questions are answered there.
1. 3 or 4 years
2. 20 hours per week during classes and full time during breaks.
3. They are low. May be no income taxes but EI and CPP only.
4. You will not be accepted to any school with GPA 1.6 or 2.0.
5. Under -graduated means academic
6. www.cic.gc.ca
7. you need at least $10 000 for living expenses for a year (if you rent a room not an apartment, and cook at home)

Thank You Regina,

Re-Addressing Questions.
4. If an undergrad gets overall GPA = 2.0 (is it a fail grade)?
5. What is minimum GPA require to maintain undergrad student visa status?
6. If an undergrad student can`t maintain minimum GPA how many semesters he will have before kicked out of Canada?
7. With 10$ an hour part time regular semester and full time during breaks, I have calculated somewhere around 6-9k/year or more. That would be enough to for an yearly expense if I rent a room and cook at home?
