Hi Everyone especially to the Seniors is this group, I hope you can help me. I was new to this site and badly need your insight regarding my situation. Let me give you some sort of back ground regarding what happen. 'August of last year, I applied for work in Canada and luckily I got the job. I lodge my application in October 2019 and got my working visa late December 2019. All docs that was submitted to CIC was single, because I thought I really was. I landed here in Canada just this January with Temporary Working Visa, come February I got the results from our registrar back home that I'm in fact was married to the man twice my age back in 2009 (I was then 18 years old). The marriage was indeed valid, I was told before that it will not be valid because I was still then considered as a minor and a consent of parents was still then needed. The marriage didn't worked and we got our separate ways 6 years ago, I never thought about it anymore and just move on. (But that was a really bad idea, I should have been wise enough to check the validity of that marriage).

Now, I understand I commit a case of Misinterpretation here since I did not declare that I was married before in my application (I was not sure if the marriage was valid from before not after I got the result [Feb 2020] from the registrar back home that the marriage was valid). What I wanted to do right now is at least try correct (If I still can) the misinterpretation that happened. We were separated long before I applied work here in Canada, we don't have any means of communication in the past 6 years and NO intention of ever sponsoring him in the future. All I wanted was to correct my marital status here and eventually file a divorce after, one step at a time. Do you guys think that was still be possible?

I was told to submit a letter of explanation via Web Form with all the proofs and documents of the said 'honest mistake'. Others, told me to immediately hire an Immigration lawyer to help me with this matter. But before I jump into that conclusions I wanted to hear insights regarding this first. My future is at stake here and besides, I've done enough damage I don't want to make another one. What do you think I need to do from here? Please help.

You don't need a lawyer and you can't correct information in a closed app. If you ever submit an app to IRCC in future, you can explain the situation at that point.

I see, so what you mean @canuck_in_uk when the time comes I’m eligible To apply PR I can explain to IRCC what happen, correct? Do this incident prevent me from applying PR in the future?

I think I can breath now. I will hire a consultant when I am eligible to apply for PR to help me with this process. Will just need to make sure that the ‘supposed misinterpretation’ will be addressed. Thanks a lot @canuck_in_uk, you don’t know how much your answer means to me. It gives me hope

Wouldn't bother with the consultant. Just provide the explanation and applicable documents.

Hi Blessed Mess, would you please tell me an update about your undeclared marital status please. I did the same as yours and I was about to start my PR application however I was stocked on how to correct my marital status.

Please do enlighten me thru sharing your experiences. It would be a huge help for me.
