Hi all,

I had to be on an unpaid leave due to a genuine tragedy related to my family. I communicated the same to my employer through email but after 10 months they initiated disciplinary enquiry for unauthorized absence.
But after I explained them the events, they charged only minor penalty on me.
Now, I intend to apply for PR in Canada.
Though there is no mention of this unauthorized absence in the experience letter that I had received,

1.would this rough patch affect my application for PR in Canada?

2. Is there any need to disclose it to the visa officer?

Valuable suggestions please.

There is no need to disclose the details. You would simply list this 10 month period as a period of unemployment in your work history.

I agree with @scylla. But just curious what was the minor penalty you mentioned in your post? Anything to do with law?
