Any correspondence I have seen explicitly shows the UCI in this manner:

UCI:12345678

If you are having trouble logging into ecas with the UCI # use the applicants file # f000123456 then use the applicants information.

If you don't have that (I don't know why you wouldn't) You can also put a dash in the UCI # 1234-5678 as the instructions on ECAS do say to do this

I suggested the file # because I have never been able to log on with my UCI # only file number. I have tried every combination available and sometimes even CIC have difficult using it. They also advised me to use my file # as an alternative.
