So, my significant other of many years has a masters from a very top tier school in pre-school special education. She's been working in this field for about 5 years.

We've been considering moving to Canada. The problem is neither of us have job offers.

I'm an attorney, and can practice online from anywhere, but that doesn't help with getting a job. My professional skills don't transfer and the skills would not be something an Canadian employer would be interested in, so it seems like my only hope to make it over the border as a permanent resident would be on my domestic partner's coat tails.

Special ed, on the other hand, seems like it might turn into a job offer. However, our concern is licensure. I would assume that a U.S. masters + 5 years experience may not turn into a teaching job without some extra hoops to jump through. Could anyone point us in the right direction?

You should begin by reading the requirements to apply for PR through different streams in CIC's website. Without a job offer, FSW is about the only option (not guaranteed) to apply for a PR, so here's its eligibility criteria.
