I got my degree in the United States. Do I need to send my original academic diploma & transcript? Or a photocopy is needed? Or do I need to send a certified copy? Since Canada is not part of the Hague Convention Apostille, I need to get certification by the US Secretary of State.

Hello,

You need to send the originals in the university sealed envelop.

"EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS

For you and your spouse or common-law partner: Post-secondary education documents: vocational or technical certificates or diplomas; College or university documents: certification of completion and the graduation degree, diploma, or certificate issued by the college or university and the evaluation committee; Transcripts: original transcripts of all degrees must be submitted in university-sealed envelopes. Professional qualifications certificates: notarized professional qualifications certificates should be submitted if available. (e.g., Engineer, Computer Programmer, Accountant, Economist, Translator/Interpreter, Architect etc.)

‰"

I don't think that you need to worry about the Hague convention. The degree should be accredited by authorities from country of issuance.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

I also suggest you read your visa office specific instructions at:

Good luck

Thanks again!

Since most of applicants have degree in non-English language, they need to send an official translation of the documents, I thought that a certified copy of English degrees is sufficient.

You are right. Ensure that the translation is done by official entity.

Good luck

No, I do not need translation, as my diploma is originally in English. I thought as most of applicants send officially translated documents, this is the case for English documents too (certified copy) ;)
