Hi guys, this is probably going to be one of the most bizarre things you will see today. I initially submitted an application but soon found out that my application wasn't 100% complete( missing passport photos). So I thought alright let me request to withdraw my application and submit another one. So I did. I did it over IRCC and I also called to make sure that a note had been added to this incomplete application. A month later , the second application got approved. However, a few days later, the first application GOT APPROVED as well....WTF... So now I have two approved work permits.... does anyone know what I can do right now? Can I have two work permits at the same time? Any advice would be appreciated...Thanks guys!

This is for sure a rare mistake to happen (I heard first time). Okay, so solution to your problem is that, one of these two scenario can be there:

1) If you have any proof of communication ( example email, exact date time when you called IRCC to add note, etc), then you can request them on email or call them on Telephone number: 1-888-242-2100 and explain all the situation. If they agree, then you may get refund.

2) Otherwise, keep the work permit with longer validity, and as they have said you should return one of it to IRCC. IMPORTANT: when you return one work permit, make sure you have proof of return (example: if you are sending through canadapost then keep copy of receipt and work permit you are returning, OR if you are returning in-person, then you can ask for some confirmation of return of work permit).

Further, personally I don't think they will refund your fees unless you have strong proof (email, etc) that you did informed them on time to withdraw the previous application. Because as per their website, they can only refund before processing of application ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=613&top=4 ).

So, for future as well, just make sure to keep records of everything you communicate/send/receive to IRCC.

Hope it helps.
