Hi all,

My TRV was just refused on the grounds of:

(1) I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

(2) I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident, as stipulated in paragraph 179(b) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence.

I am a 24 year old who was looking to go to Canada for 2 months while I wait for the next semester to begin (I am a teacher so I have July and August off) to visit some international friends and also visit universities there to see if I wanted to apply for higher education in the future. For my application I had my friend (a citizen) write me a letter of invitation and swear on a notarized letter that I could stay with him for the trip's duration.

I showed that I had $16,000 CAD in my savings account and my sponsor showed that he had $30,000 CAD in his savings account too. However, this was still reason for rejection so I am wondering if there are other ways I can show my financial security (I am only 24 so I thought having $16,000 cash would be more than enough as its more than most of my friends).

More so I am hoping for advice on how to answer the doubts "based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence." I am only 24 so I do not have a spouse or children, only my mother and sister (whom I currently live with).

What more can I do to show that I will return back to my home country (Malaysia) once the two months is expired? I already included a letter of continued employment from my boss and do not know how else to show my family ties / that I have no intention of staying in Canada for a long period of time (I would definitely not do this since I may want to study there in the future and wouldn't want to jeopardize my chances of getting a student visa).

Any help on how to approach either of this reasons for rejection would be appreciated!!
