TRV online application from U.S. timeline Feb&Mar 2015 - NY VAC

Hello,

I just want to share my application timeline to you.

Feb 20th: submitted application online and received confirmation letter after a few minutes
Feb 25th: received passport request letter
Feb 25th: sent my passport to VAC in NYC (I live in New York State)
Feb 26th: passport delivered according to USPS tracking
Mar 2nd: VAC confirmed receiving my documents (I believe they didn't open my package till then)
Mar 3rd: passport transited to visa office
Mar 5th: case closed showing approved
Mar 9th: passport transited to VAC
Mar 10th: VAC sent my passport back
Mar 11th: received my passport with a 8-year visitor visa (which expires one day before my passport expiration)

My timeline is faster than I expected, about 3 weeks in total. Hope you also can get your visa(s) soon!
PS: no one contacted me about my VAC tracking number, I called them to get it.

Hello,

I received letter from CIC stating that i should send my passport along with letter that was sent to me for passport submission.
I am also applying to NYC. I have few questions here:

a) Did you make any VAC payments when sending to NYC?
b) Did you send the "original documents uploaded to myCIC website, including checklist and IMM forms" ?
c) What address did you send these documents to?

That's great! Congrats on your approval!

I have a small question, how did you find out that you were approved? Did you receive an email or was there a message in the tracking tool online? Only reason why I am asking is because they told us at the VAC that they would call us when they receive our passport back from CIC but would not know the outcome of it until we come pick up our passports, is that normal? I know every VAC operates differently just wanted to get an idea of what to expect...

I am targeting April to submit the super visa application for my parents. Does anyone know if I need to notarize the Invitation Letter.

Also, I found they are asking to upload a document titled Purpose of Trip - Other. Anyone knows what does it mean?



Purpose of Travel - Other

You must submit proof that you are coming to Canada for a temporary visit

Examples of what you can provide as proof:

A scanned copy of:

Your flight ticket departing Canada,
Your travel itinerary (e.g. places you will visit or stay, such as hotel booking),
Proof of a medical appointment.

It is always a good idea to notarize the invitation letter. For "Purpose of travel", you can basically produce any documents like flight tickets, documents that shows ties to your home country, etc.
