Hi!

I have a valid study permit till the end of february 2015, but my visa was expiring on july 31 2014.
I applied for visa extension on july 2 by mail(inside Canada), sent all my documents including passport with fedex. According to fedex, my package was delivered on july 3. It's August 27 and I haven't got my passport back yet. I'm getting really nervous.

One thing - I didn't include a prepaid envelope for sending the passport back.

I don't know what to do..

If anybody ever experienced anything like that or has any ideas, please share!

Thanks.

That was risky.... as per CIC's website your passport will be returned by regular mail.... that's the cheapest and slowest method. So if it took (let's say) 1 month to process it can take up to 4 weeks to make its way back.

OK I don't want to scare you but the most you can do is call CIC to know when they sent your passport back. From that point on there is no way of tracking the package nor someone who can take responsibility if it is lost. That is why CIC states that you should use Xpress Post :(

Anyway that is an extreme case, usually it is just slow.... they arrive... late... but they arrive.

Hi Jalex

I hope you can provide some clarity to a situation which happened to my friend's minor kids at Narita Airport while on transit to Vancouver.

My friend holds a valid work permit which was recently renewed in BC till next Feb 2015. According to her, her children's study permit was similarly extended till next Feb 2015. Recently, they went back to Thailand for summer vacation but my friend had to leave earlier due to work commitments while her kids stayed back with the intention of returning at a later date on their own.

This morning, she received a call from Narita Airport informing her that her children had to be put on a returning flight back to Thailand because they do not have a valid visa to travel to canada.

Isn't the study permit sufficient for her kids to come back to canada? Or, is she required to apply for a temporary resident visa for her kids to enable their return?

Appreciate some advice.

Thanks

Hi

No, a study permit is not sufficient for Thai citizens to enter Canada. They must have a valid TRV as well.

hey how did you get your passport back and how long does it take and on which address did they send your passports back
