Hello there,

I'm Canadian by naturalization (orginally Jordanian and my wife is French) my 3 kids were born abroad (one in France and 2 in Jordan). They have both French and Jordanian citizenships. Can I apply for Canadian citizenship for them?? Or would I be asked to drop one of the other nationalities?

Definitely Yes. You cannot legally hold citizenship of more than 2 Countries and most Countries even require you to renounce your Citizenship before they give you theirs. I am sure you cannot be granted Canadian citizenship if you disclose the above information while applying.

That's complete rubbish. You can certainly be British, American and Canadian all at the same time.
British father, American mother and born during a visit to Canada, for example.
What citizenship you hold will depend totally on which countries are involved.

Thank you guys for your answers. But the two answers are contradictory!!

I think there is no law, in any country, stating the number of citizenships one can have. I think zardos is probably right. I'll just drop a call to the Canadian embassy and see what they say.

It all depends upon each country. In India even dual citizenship is not allowed.

Yes, Canada allows triple Citizenship, I got two passports, one from Europe the other from down under..

Yes Canada will allow this . I hold a Canadian passport British passport and Trinidadian and depends how i feel i use any one of them to enter Canada

If possible clarify this with the CIC thru written correspondence or consult some qualified Immigration attorneys. Please do not fall victim to quacks / immigration consultants you may charge little money and give you incorrect advise. As these thing may be long term consequences, so take legal opinion.

I contacted the Canadian Embassy and it is no problem for my kids to apply for the Canadian citizenship, they said.
