Hello forum members,

My job description fits well in 1112 ("portfolio manager"), but can be classified under 1113 too ("equity trader") although it is a weaker fit. I will be able to file by July 15 once my IELTS results come in. If I file under 1113 (which has zero applications so far), could CIC object on grounds that 1112 is a closer fit?

Thanks,

Which NOC Job Duties according to you fits the most ? An experience can loosely match two NOCs but you have to see which one is the closest (and least competitive). If you think your Letter of reference(s) will hold good for 1113 - go for it. The VO will not analyse which all other NOCs your Experience match. You have to decide your NOC Code. If the VO thinks your experience is a match against the NOC you've picked then your app will be progressed. He won't, in my opinion, start comparing other NOCs along with it.

Thanks Nishesh. 1112 covers both financial analysts (FA) and investment analysts (IA) - it is a "hot" NOC because of FAs (90%+ in my view), not because of IAs. My job description is a close match to IA, and that would be my natural NOC selection, if 1112 wasn't so competitive.

1113 is a reasonable match, and the primary reason to pick it is to avoid the crowds. I have been leaning towards 1113, and your response is strengthening that view, so thanks again.

I have the same dilemma, being an fixed income portfolio manager. So which NOC did you apply at the end?
