I am Kenyan researcher who came in Canada 2nd June 2019 from Senegal where I study with a multiple entry Canadian visa. On 31 July 2019 I am supposed to travel to Rwanda for Mastercard Foundation Summit. Will there be a problem at the immigration? Will I need to show my papers again since I have the visitors record certificate?

Thank you

Once you depart Canada you cease to be a visitor so the visitor's record becomes void. The multiple entry visa that you have gets you on an airplane to return to Canada where you will be examined again at the port of entry to enter as a visitor. This is how that works.

I hope you have the correct visa/permit for what you are doing in Canada. If not, you might be refused reentry at the border.

I have the invitation letters from the university where I am working, a work permit exemption and the other documents. My visa expires next year. So I would literally start the process again and get a new visitor record?

Please help understand this. Thank you

I would say that while you cannot rely on the Visitor's Record there's nothing wrong with referring to it when you are again seeking entry into Canada. You can simply say that you are hoping to resume the same status with the same validity date, and the same terms and conditions that you had when you left to attend the Summit in Rwanda.

Bring back stuff from the Summit that supports your attendance if it makes you feel better about the port of entry experience. You ought to be able to relax somewhat because there isn't anything unreasonable here.
