Travelling outside Canada (to USA) during Co-op

Hey all,

I'm currently in my last semester which is a co-op and I'm working from home.

I was wondering if I can travel to the USA for 3-4 days during my co-op and work from there.

I read that we can travel outside Canada while studying but couldn't find anything about leaving during a co-op semester and about working from outside Canada. (For a Canadian company). Would the same rules apply to a co-op semester?

Hi there,

Since you are completing your co-op work term remotely, it's totally fine to travel to any country and keep working from there. As long as you are not required to be physically present at the office, everything is fine. As per the info found on this website from IRCC https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/intern.html students can even start working for a Canadian employer from their home country while they are waiting for their co-op work permit to be approved. This is not particularly your case, but from it, you can assume it's totally fine if you travel abroad while working remotely for your co-op employer.

Hi there, i am going through something similar and haven't been able to find an answer. If you guys can help I'll be very grateful to you.

I am currently in my co-op term and want to go to India for some time due to a personal situation. My employer is ok if i work remotely. I am traveling back for almost a month and my concern is that when i come back and apply for work permit will there be any issue with that. ?

P.s I'll be back before the last day of my college term and co op contact.
