Hi,

I am in the proses of being sponsored my my comon law partner. We have not passed stage one yet and have recently found out that we are pregnant. This wasn't planed and has put us in a difficult position. I am now 3 months pregnant and on an IEC work permit.
I want to travel back home to see family and get some medical help to save me paying in Canada.

I would like to know what my risk would be traveling while being 5 months pregnant and the risk of being refused enters back in to Canada.

I would really like to see my family as I haven't been able to for a year and a half.

Hope that someone could give me some insight in to this so I don't end up being sent back at the border and having to re start the sponsorship application out of country. This would be devastating for us.

Thanks in advance.

you can visit your family in your country.
but most of forum members would say, there is no guarantee that CBSA going to let you in and you do not have any problem.

I know, being pregnant while you are away from family is emotionally hard for you.

if IEC work permit is re-admissible, you would have any problem when you come back to Canada.
if not, you would take a risk to leave and come back to Canada.

Correct me if there is wrong info.

Good luck

Thank you for your response.

I am not sure if you are trying to tell me that I am safe to travel and being on a work visa would allow me to come back in to Canada with no problems or not. But I am getting the idea that you are saying if my work visa Is active I would be ok to come back in to the country?

My work permit is valid for one year. Being on this work visa allows people to travel in and out of the country easier. This is my second year on this work visa. I traveled before very easily but looking pregnant this time around may give me problems which I would not want to take the risk.

Some people say they won't let me back and others say I should have no problem but if I look pregnant I feel that they would have the right to not allow me back in even though I am on a work visa and I am being sponsored.

I was 5 month pregnant when I visited my in-law in Canada( on visitor visa)

I did not tell CBSA that I am pregnant and he did not ask.
(plus, it was winter , I was wearing bulky sweater. Normally, you would not show much when you are first time pregnant. )

if you can re-enter with your work permit (and you did) , don't think it would be problem.
bring a letter from your work (proof of you have been working for the job) to show CBSA along with your work permit.

you do not need to tell them you applied for inland sponsorship unless he/she would ask.
also do not need to tell you are pregnant.

you would answer honestly whatever CBSA would ask you, but do not need to tell everything and give much info.

PS. you could call CIC or talk to lawyer (they usually offer free consultation.)

Sounds like you applied inland. Just keep in mind that if you do travel and any complications arise while traveling that prevent you from returning to Canada, you may need to stay in your home country for an extended time. This could also affect any inland application as you are supposed to be residing in Canada with your sponsor. Though if all goes as planned you and you leave for a quick visit and return with no problems, it shouldn't have any effect on the inland app.

As for traveling while pregnant, that is a conversation you should have with your doctor. Also you should check the airline's rules as some have policies not to allow boarding depending how many weeks you are pregnant (most have restrictions very late in pregnancy to try and prevent deliveries/complications while in the air).

I would not want to risk not being able to enter the country as it would put us in a very difficult possition.

I was hopping that because my baby would be a Canadian citizen by blood right that this would not be an issue. I applied for a work visa so that I count travel easterly in and out of the country but with this little surprise it has changed things a lot for us.

We were meant to be getting married abroad but had to postpone.

Ether way I could be in a worse possition that I am in now.

Thank you for your advice!
