Traveling while inland application in process

Hi all,

I know this question may have been answered many many times but if anyone has successfully or unsuccessfully re-entered Canada while Inland application is in process please comment!

My application was mailed out on November 22. I'm currently on a visitor visa and entered Canada about two months ago (which means I have four months left). I intend to travel to the United States between Dec 6 and Dec 11th. My husband (he's a Canadian citizen) will be traveling with me. I'm worried that when I come back I will encounter some difficulties. If I say that I'm visiting my husband the border officer may think that I lack strong ties to my home country(I'm currently unemployed). I would like some advice on what kind of risk am I taking here? Should I ask my husband to go through the custom with me or should I go alone?

Any inputs will be greatly appreciated!

My husband was on a visitor visa and visited me and we did a day trip to USA. He was allowed in they asked him when he was leaving Canada as our application was an outland one though.
