Hi,I want to know if I can travel with my Indian passport which is going to expire in may 2018 and I have permanent resident card which is valid until 2019. Can I travel to India in November for one month or do I have to renew my passport before I travel to India?

You can travel both sides as you hold PR card until May(PP expiry date). You only need to have blank pages for stamping while travel. Renew before it expires.
