We just applied with my partner, who is both Australian and American, for sponsorship application and an open work permit for them in Canada. They are currently in Canada as a visitor with their Australian Passport.

We have a weekend trip on May 2020 planned to The US. There is a chance the work permit may not have arrived by that time. Would there be any reason why they can be denied re entry to Canada? specially as an American citizen. Does anyone have/had a similar experience?

Technically you can always be denied so impossible for anyone to guarantee. It’s unlikely but he is also living in Canada while still a visitor and likely doesn’t still have a home or job in the US.
