Hello guys, I landed on Oct 3 and still waiting for the PR card. I have a friend's wedding in France and I need to go there in September... and I don't think I can get PR card before that.

But I still have valid work permit which will expire in 2018. My agency said it is okay to travel with it but carry landing paper as well just in case.

I just want to confirm it is okay to travel with that permit.... Thanks in advance!

Once you land as a PR, all visas/work permits/eTA etc should be voided/cancelled, since you don't require them nor are you eligible for any of these as a PR.

Some people have reported they successfully flew back to Canada on old visas/eTA obtained prior to becoming a PR, but others have said they had them all cancelled.

So you can certainly take the risk to attempt flying back to Canada on an old visa/eTA, however don't be surprised if the airline tells you they're cancelled and denies you boarding.

A much safer option would be to apply for a PR Travel Document while in France, to ensure you can fly back to Canada with no problems.
