Travel to US with a nearly expired PR Card

I need to travel out of Canada to California for a school competition very near to the date that my PR Card will expire. The competition is 2 weeks and I will come back around the time of my PR Card expiry (near to a week). I haven't met the RO but I have a visa-exempt passport, Canadian driving license and possibly a US visa by then.

I think we're probably travelling by land to US and back. What are the risks of losing my PR Card?

Would appreciate any help on this topic a lot!

I think what you're really asking is what your chances are of being reported at the border for failing to meet the residency requirement.

The short answer is that none of us can tell you what the chances are you will be reported. They are likely quite low - but there's always some risk.

It would be preferable to avoid travel out of Canada until you meet RO.
