Travel insurance when no status in Canada

I am from Ukraine. I’ve been in Canada for 1 year and 3 months already and I am still here.
All this time my status here was temporary foreign worker. However, several weeks ago my status expired. This means that as for now I have no status in Canada.
I am going to restore my status in Canada as visitor. Restoration of status takes around 4 months. All this time I will have no status and will stay in Canada.
I have a Visitors to Canada travel insurance with Travel Underwriters. In their policy brochure it’s stated that I am not eligible for coverage if I do not have legal status in Canada.
I now need to find another travel insurance company.
I contacted several like TIC (Travel Insurance Coordinators), Manulife, Blue Cross, GMS but they also said that I was not eligible for coverage under any of their programs.
Is there an insurance company/plan that will cover a person like me with no status in Canada?

Hi! You must have an implied status since you are going to apply to restore it. In this case most insurance plans for Visitors will work for you. You can take a look here:
