Travel History - Schenghen area and layovers

I'm filling my travel history but I'm a bit confused about the dates to add.
Almost all the cases I have are similar to this scenario:
Example of my last trip: Destination was France, but had a layover in Athens. Stamps show entry and exit in Athens and with one day difference for my home country. for example I left my country on the 1st, reached Athens on the 2nd. Same thing on the way back, left Athens on the 15th, got to y home country on the 16th.
In this case the dates of my trip should be the days I left and returned to my own country or the days I actually entered the Schenghen area?

The days you actually entered the Schengen Area should be entered.
