For document translation is it a requirement to have it done by an official translator? I remember reading somewhere in the immigration web page and it said translation should be in English or French and it can be done by anyone.Did i see this correctly?

Correct me if am wrong..Thank you.

i think u can get translated from anywhere, but the documents have to be notarized. may be u can wait and see if anyone here agrees with me or can give u an expert opinion.

actually it has to be done by someone who's a certified translator and he has to certify them.

Hi,

I applied in 2004 and with my application I submitted all the translations done by my self but NOTARIZED in the end. Find no problem and received provisional acceptance on 06.05.09.

translation can be done from any where, but must be noterized

Dear Friend,

1. An affidavit from the person who has done the translation of any document has to be enclosed.

2. To have a photocopy of a document certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:
a. “I Certify that this is a true copy of the original document”
b. The name of the original document.
c. The date of the certification
d. His or her name
e. His or her official position or title
f. His or her signature

3. the following can certify copies:
a. a judge
b. a magistrate
c. a notary public
d. an officer of a court of justice
e. A commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is living.

Hope this info was useful to you !

Re: Translation...URGENT

Hi,

Need clarification on the translation part. I all do we have to send 2 papers or 3 papers, where:

a) 2 papers means notarized attestation of the original document + translation which bears the sign and stamp of the translator
b) 3 papers means notarized attestation of the original document + translation which bears the sign and stamp of the translator + affidavit by the translator that his translation is true and correct.

Please clarify whether point "a" above is valid or point "b"

Requesting Urgent reply .

Thanks
