Hi all,

I just got my transit visa approved. I will be transit twice by Toronto International Airport on Feb 21 and July 30 of this year, I specified that in my application's cover letter and also attached the air ticket as required. The transit visa was approved with two entries, but the date of issue and expiry date is from 15/01/2018 to 15/07/2018...so its expires before my second transit day....My question is, do I need another transit visa or visa extension? or is just that I need to transit for first time within those dates? I just filled the general inquiries forms in the CIC page, didnt find the email to them :( Would you please kindly help to inform me? Any related info or experience is appreciated, thank you so much in advance!

That's because you have been issued a Transit Visa/TRV which has 6-months validity with two entries + the visa date commences from the date your Transit Visa application was approved (i.e. 15/01).

.My question is, do I need another transit visa or visa extension?
You will need to apply for a second transit visa. You can apply about 1-1.5 months before the expiry of the current transit visa.

You can either transit one time (for your February 21 transit) and/or transit two times (for your February 21 transit + one more time if you change the date of your second transit before the current visa expires)

You can email the relevant visa office. I'm guessing that they won't issue a second transit visa (i.e. a second counterfoil or a longer validity transit visa) until the current one which is already stamped in your passport expires

Hi Bryanna,

thank you so much for your kind reply, it was really helpful. I have a last question, I'm not planning on leaving the airport or enter the country in either flights, I mean, I intend to stay at the waiting room both dates, do i need to apply for a new transit visa also? I just applied for this one because I live in Argentina and they wont let me to get on the plane if I dont have the transit visa...

Thanks again! :) Best wishes.

You're welcome :)

Yes, you will need a transit visa for any transit less than 48 hours. I suggest you must apply for a new transit visa at least 1-1.5 months before your second travel date

Hey Bryanna, sorry to bother, but I had one more question, can I apply for this in a third country? I mean I will definitely not in the country of my passport by the time i should apply the second transit visa...

Sure, you can certainly apply in a third country.

You'll need to prove you have strong ties to return to Argentina + evidence of your immigration status/visitor status in the third country + plane tickets + adequate finances, etc.
