Hello,

We currently live in Atlanta,GA , hence my two sons are attending High School in here.
We are currently exploring the options to move to Ontario province and has some questions around the graduations requirements from Ontario Secondary Schools if they transfer to Ontario Secondary School in their Senior and Junior year.
From the Ministry of Education webpage (http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/extra/eng/ppm/graduate.html) , it is required to complete French, Canadian history and other optional subjects which are not covered in US High Schools. Is there anyone out here who had a similar experience and throw some light on how the credits earned in US High School system translate into Secondary School system there.

Appreciate if you can provide an email address or contact numbers of concerned department that I can call or email for more information.

Thanks

Based on your other post your one son would graduate in May 2020. I wouldn’t encourage moving during the last semester of his last year. He can use us US high school marks to apply to universities or colleges. Canada is familiar with a variety of class types like IB, AP, etc.

For your younger child you would first have to decide whether you are interested in English public school or English Catholic public school. You don’t actually need to be Catholic to attend. I assume you are not interested in the 2 French school boards. Once you have a better idea where you may be moving you can contact that school board. If your youngest son is entering his senior year he is unlikely to require both French and Canadian history. The priority will be for him to meet the prerequisites to apply for his preferred post secondary program and then try to meet any Ontario graduation requirements.
