After linking all paper based application will be shown as online application only. And that update as in approval is it in that final decision crow? and is your application status closed? If so congrats your application is approved.

I submitted my Application to VFS on April 10. Today, I tried to link the Paper Application to MyCIC. In doing so, it got linked but I got the following information:

1. It shows the Type of Application as 'Online', while I have submitted a 'Paper Application'
2. The time of submission of Application is shown as April 15 (when I linked the Application) rather than the original date of submission, i.e. April 10.
3. In Status, it says No Biometrics is Required. But I gave Biometrics at VFS too.

How to see if correct Application has been linked to MyCIC account?

Yes, I did it right now and it is the same... maybe Biometrics weren't necessary even when you gave them... but don't worry, it won't link another application that is not yours. You will see the updates

Thank you. Do they usually follow the Processing Times advertised on their webpages or is does it takes longer than that?

The advertised times are just average processing times since they receive all the documents. It means that some applications take longer than others and that time is from the last requested document. So, it should be somewhere around the advertised...

Hi guys, some people have already asked this question that they are unable to link their paper application to online account because they don't have any family name on their passport and I'm facing the same problem. I have already received a message from VFS about that the application is received at respective VAC. Please help me.

Your surname is your family name
So try to write your surname in option for family name. They both are same.

Hi friends...my application via vfs whenever i check it says..."are under process at the Canada Visa Office, Abu Dhabi..." its now 17 days, i did not try to link my application online also...does it mean its being background checked still? will it be more useful if i link my application online to get realtime updates?
