a lot of people apply and are denied because CIC is afraid that you will not leave the country once the visa is expired as you are married to a Canadian.
If you don't have very strong ties to Brazil ( and I guess you don't if you have been a student in Canada for 10 months, no job to go back to, no house etc), and given that you have very strong ties to Canada, there is a real risk to be denied, and then you would have to wait in Brazil.
What you could look into is to apply for a change of conditions of visa : you can send the papers, to change from a student visa to a tourist visa. see here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp
you need to do that BEFORE your visa expires (technically you should do it 30 days in advance, but you can always do it - but do it now!!). It might be denied, but as long as you don't have the answer, you're legally allowed to stay in Canada... so it will "buy" you a little time with your husband. If your extension is denied, then you will have to leave, but at least it will take a few more weeks to get an answer. Then if it's allowed, you can stay in Canada. If denied, you should leave the country ( otherwise it will be difficult to return even once you get a PR) and wait in Brazil until the PR comes through.
In your extension, show the proofs that you have already applied for PR, and ask for 6 months ( or more), and make it clear that you have no intention of overstaying if denied. You might be lucky and get the extension. I think it's easier to get an extension (or a change of status from student to visitor) while your visa is still valid rather than wait and try from Brazil.
But - if you get the extension, I would advise not to travel out of Canada, as re-entry is never guaranteed.
Good luck,
Sweden
