Tourist Visa to Approval of Parent Sponsorship

Hello everyone!

I already filed my parents sponsorhsip for 2 years and expecting anytime next year 2011 I will received the approval (37 months in process). And another 2 years in Manila Embassy to process their visa. They have plans to visit us next year from Phils and incase this time their approval arrived while they are in Canada should I make a request to CIC if we can pursue the application or issuance of visa here in canada instead of they need to go back in phils while waiting for visa issuance?

I heard some stories that their parents didn't go back in their country during the parent sponsorship and the applicant only request for petition or request for CIC for issuance of visa in canada. Their parents just went out in the border as their entry in Canada then issuance of Permanent Resident.

Did you hear any situation like this and happened to everyone. Thank you.

They can apply for a visitor visa. If they have sufficient proof they can support themselves (or you will support them) without recourse to working or social assistance, it may be granted. If they then come to Canada, they can apply to extend their visit. It's possible this would be granted, but not indefinitely.

If they do visit, and manage to remain until the visa is issued, then they would either go to the nearest US border to be granted PR status ("flagpole"), or call CIC and get an appointment at the nearest inland office.

Given the timeline, if you expect approval next year, it's possible their visit (if approved) or an extension could coincide with landing.

It's also possible their visitor visa could be denied if the IO doesn't think they will return to the Philippines at the end of their stay if required to do so.

Oh I See.. you call that Flagpole.

This will be their second Trip to canada holding single visa. They have to go back because of their work and hope this is a good justification for their temp visa application.

You are definitely right, their extension might be denied if they see the sponsorship is coming and they think it is a shortcut.

Incase, i got the letter approval all I do is call CIC informing them that my parents is in Canada and willing to proceed their application PR status within canada and they will do flagpole process from their? Will the CIC forward the approval in Manila Embassy or I will received the letter of approval and this will be submitted by my parents along with other documents?
