I would really value people opinion on the following;
My wife and i planned our honeymoon over 6 months ago and it included travelling through USA and then up into Canada for 5 days in Whistler. I didn't think about the visa when i booked, since i applied for a rehabilitation visa and have just been denied as i took some money in 2012 which i repaid. I have a full time job, i have booked accomodation in Whistler, but also Seattle and Oregon after wards so it is clear we are not staying, i can provide more information if required.
Should i still try and fly from Las Vegas to Vancouver and hope to be able to grant entry, should i fly to Seattle and cross via bus/ car hire or should i just not bother?

What passport do you hold?

Based on the information you've provided, you're inadmissible to Canada at this time. So the only option for entering Canada would be to apply for a TRP (temporary resident permit). Otherwise you cannot enter and will be refused at the border as soon as your passport is swiped.

I would guess U.S. citizen.

Theoretically speaking, the OP could show up at the border and request a TRP with a Visitor's record. CBSA does have the authority to grant this, but I wouldn't count on it.

Doesn't hurt though. Should the OP choose to take this approach I would recommend showing up at a land border so in case he is denied entry he can turn around to the U.S.

Ah - yes. I somehow read the post that the OP is not American. However if the OWP is in fact American - I agree with you and would try for the TRP at the border.

Australian passport - appreciate your feedback
Applied for the temp resident permit as we are only travelling for 6 days in Canada.
we originally were told 'it was ready to be approved' now a day before we leave we have been told it has been denied.

You can try applying for a TRP at the border. It's at the discretion of CBSA - but certainly a chance you'll be approved.

EDIT: Make sure you have a plan B for your trip in the event the TRP isn't approved and you aren't allowed to enter Canada.
