To renounce current PR and get sponsored by spouse

Hello Members,


I am in a situation and need some advice. Me and my wife both are PR holders, but we are not in Canada. My wife’s PR card is going to expire in 4 months and due to some personal reasons, my wife will not be able to full fill residence obligation of 730 days. If she voluntarily renounce her PR, can I sponsor her later? I am a new PR holder and my PR card is valid till 2024. I am planning to move Canada next year and thinking to sponsor her later after that.

It’s possible. No barrier to what you are suggesting. In some situations it might actually be faster than her being reported, appealing only to be refused.
