I can only talk of my experience. With my medical request came RPRF request and a new PCC request. I did the medical and RPRF within the 60 days. I had 90 days to submit the PCC but it only came on the 92nd day. I let them know upfront that I won't be able to meet the 90day requirement. They did not reply to that. After submitting the PCC, it took about 10 days to get an email requesting my passport.
This was at Buffalo. It could be that Detroit is overwhelmed and given that they asked you for employment documents, they may only be doing the checks now. If you are certain that nothing will go wrong with the employment documents, then you should not worry. You should keep a check out for an email (check your spam folder) for the pp request.
Good luck.
