So glad to have found this great forum to ask questions of people who've been there (or are there!)
I'm a US citizen, have a valid job offer from a Canadian business and am hoping to move in late April/early May for my work. I applied for a work permit under CUSMA online because I was told that applying at the border was closed for now. I intend to drive from Chicago to Vancouver and cross near Seattle as I'll have a trailer with all my things with me!
Here are my deets:
Applied online: Dec 25th, 2020
Confirmation of online transmission: Dec 25th, 2020
Submission Confirmation: Feb 5, 2021
No need for biometrics
No need for medical exam
No need for interview at this time
I am eligible under the GSS processing as I meet all the criteria.
My questions:
First, obviously, would be great to hear from anyone recently who got their WP approval in a similar situation. I know processing times are wacky right now so I'm not sure when I make an inquiry to check on it.
Second, when the WP comes through, I can't get to Seattle in time for my Covid test to still be within the three day rule (because I drive like a little old lady!) I'd attempt to cross at the border closer to me here but then would I need to quarantine two weeks before I drive to Vancouver? It's confusing.
Any advice would be most welcome. I know we're all a bit in the dark here but it's good to know I'm not alone in my wondering!
